Why do dentists recommend flossing?

Flossing involves of a simple procedure of removing plaque and
food particles from between teeth and under the gum line,  by
sliding a thin piece of wire between one's teeth,  an area your
toothbrush cannot reach.  Tooth decay and periodontal disease
could be kept at bay by flossing regularly.  Flossing may seem
like a tedious and even a difficult process at first, but it is some
-thing that helps enormously in the long run.

Significance of Brushing the right way

Brushing is an essential part of cleaning. But brushing teeth
requires a little more finesse than brushing the insides of a
greasy pan or the dusty corner of a wall. Brushing one's teeth
regularly after meals is not only a good habit but it is also the
best way of guarding them against decay. Brushing not only
unclogs the small particles of food stuck between our teeth,
it also removes plague. It is advisable to use a specialized
toothpaste that contains certain bacteria-killing elements and
ingredients that make your teeth stronger.

Though it is nice to know about all the brands available at your
grocer or medical store, it is always better to consult your
dentist before selecting any brand. An expert opinion is always
better than an amateur one because your dentist takes into
consideration your gum formation before he advises you to use
a hard, soft or medium-bristled brush. A soft brush with
rounded-ends or polished bristles is more gentle on gum tissues.
The size and shape of the brush should be such that it allows
you to reach every corner of your mouth. It is essential to
change a toothbrush when it begins to show signs of wear and
tear. Worn out brushes have rough edges that could scratch
gums leading to bleeding and infection. Ideally, toothbrushes
should be replaced every three or four months.

Importance of clean mouth

There is ample of evidence which states that what we eat and
how we eat, definitely decides the condition of our teeth and
gums. Even despite healthy habits like rinsing one's mouth
each time after eating, there might still be some tiny particles
of food that could remain embedded in your mouth. These
little bits of food attract the hungry bacteria that grow in a
sticky film on our teeth. This film, called plaque, is the main
cause of tooth decay and gum disease.

A healthy mouth is the first and immediate representation
of a healthy physique. And yet, our mouth is indeed one of
